Electrical Engineer(Power)

Role Description
GBatteries is looking for an electrical engineer with extensive experience in switching power supply design. It is a 5-month contract position with a potential to being converted into full time at the end of the term. You will be working with a small team to develop a custom battery test platform circuit board for an entirely new battery management system. Tasks will include part selection, PCB schematic and layout development, prototyping and fabrication.


  • Design of DC/DC, AC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various electrical topologies.
  • Component selection (power supplies, sensors, board headers etc.)
  • PCB schematic creation
  • PCB layout (possibly manage a third party contractor to do this, depending on level of your experience)
  • Managing PCB fabrication and population with a third party contractor

  • Switching power supply design
  • DC motors
  • Interfacing-with and charging Li-ion batteries
  • Analog and power electronics design
  • Feedback control
  • LabView
  • Matlab
  • Hands on soldering skills
  • Mechanical assembly skills
  • PCB design (i.e. OrCad or Altium)
  • Microcontrollers coding (Microchip)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 5+ years experience of creating schematics and laying out multi-layer PCBs
  • 5+ years experience of analog and power electronics design
